Read to me!

International Read to Me! Day is an international campaign aimed at encouraging children to remind adults in their village to read to them often. It was created as another essential cog in the literacy advocacy wheel. It empowers and encourages children to participate in the conversation about their own literacy by reminding the adults around them about the importance of being read to, regularly. (https://www.readtomeday.com/)

And here are our experience at RPCS:

On Monday, 19 March morning, students from K-1 and some Secondary students from Years 7, 8 and 10 took part in The International Read to Me day. It was a fun experience for all of us. My favourite part of the experience was watching the student’s reactions as I read Finding Nemo to them. We were blessed to have the beautiful new playground, the Village Green and a nice weather on that morning to do that. (Josephine Chamron – Year 7)

The International Read to Me Day, a day where secondary students read to primary from kindergarten to year 2. It was a fine day, which allowed us to go outside and sit in the newly built Village Green and enjoy the warm sun. I waited for this day for 3 weeks, praying that it will be a great day and that I’ll be able to make memorable moments with primary kids. I always looked forward to this day as I really enjoyed reading to the kids and talking to them, later seeing them smile when they meet me again.   (written by Sophia Lee – year 10)
