On Monday 12March the Primary prefects and captains went to the National Young Leaders Day at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour. The event is attended by primary school students leaders from government, catholic and independent schools and endeavours to provide students with examples of positive leadership from a variety of industries. Our students found the speakers ins[irrational and encouraging. This year speakers included: Matt Cosgrove (Author/Illustrator), John Coutis (Speaker/Mentor), Harrison Craig (Winner of the Voice, Season 2) and Lauren Cheatle (Australian Cricketer).
John Coutis encouraged students that students need to take responsibility and to, “know what is right, and know what is wrong. It’s your choice.” He also spoke about things outside my control (e.g. others people’s words, actions, behaviours, effort, etc.) and things I can control (e.g. my words, actions, behaviours, effort, etc.). All of the speakers were inspiring and shared a powerful message to the students. Our prefects thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
