This term, the students in Year 6 travelled to Canberra, as part of their Civics and Citizenship learning, which
focuses on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. They visited Parliament House, the Electoral Education Centre, the Australian War Memorial, the National Museum and Questacon.
It was a marathon of learning, but the students were enthusiastic and engaged in all the activities. We were very
proud of the way in which they conducted themselves, demonstrating respect to the guides and kindness towards
each other.
We appreciate the Australian Government’s assistance in subsidizing the cost of this excursion, by contributing
$20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program. This rebate will be paid directly to
the school now that we have completed the excursion.
