Throughout Term 1, Kindergarten have been doing a Science unit to help them learn about living things and what they need to survive. We looked at the needs of plants (sun, water and nutrients) and animals (food, shelter and water). This learning culminated in the creation of a garden on the school property. Before a garden could be planted, the students had some planning to do. With a partner, they created a shopping list and added how much money was needed for the items they wanted to put in the garden. Mary Mary came to visit, bringing with her all the things that were needed. On Tuesday 7 May, students created the garden with the help of Mary Mary! We have planted many kinds of herbs, radishes, beans, tomatoes, carrots and cabbages in the ‘yum yum’ garden. In the ‘pretty’ garden, there are all sorts of colourful, bright and beautiful flowers. Students are now working hard to care for the garden, watering it each day, and looking forward to harvest time!
