All students attended the Student Panel to start the day. This gave students the opportunity to ask questions of current students about University life, study options, pathways, GAP year etc.
Students selected 2 courses to attend, and navigate from one building and lecture theatre to another. There were 60 Courses that students could elect from included:
- Business – Become a change maker
- Criminology – explaining and understanding crime
- History and the Future
- Pathways to Teaching
- Understanding our Changing Society.
- Technology interactive
Feedback from students at the end of the day included
“that was great, now I know what I want to do with my life”.
“I really want to study psychology, and now I know that if I work hard at school, that I can get there”.
“It’s so different from school’.
“Can we do that again?”
I must use my time wisely at school and not waste my free time”
The use of Social media and technology was very evident – from Instagram accounts, green screens and on Western Sydney TV channel, and video productions, facebook, snapchat.
This was a very worthwhile day for the students as it helped to clarify ‘life after school’ and the importance of making every day count.
