At Regents Park Christian School, our theme for 2019 is ‘belonging’.
Belonging is about relationship, being cared for and loved, being accepted and valued.
In this Easter season, we particularly reflect on the ultimate expression of love, acceptance and value demonstrated in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. God himself, the spotless, sinless, perfect sacrifice paying the penalty for the sin and rebellion of all mankind.
I try to imagine what it would be like facing a death penalty I deserve. If, incredibly, an innocent person stepped in and took that penalty for me, dying in my place, it really would be a sign of love, acceptance and value. It would not only give me life, it would change my whole life!
That is what Jesus has done for us, dying in our place. More than that, the bible tells us that through his resurrection, Jesus Christ conquered death, once and for all, so that each of us can now choose to receive the gift of real life through belief and trust in Him.
“For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:9-11.
My prayer is that each person in our wonderful school community has a happy Easter. More importantly, I pray that each one will know the true belonging that only comes from a relationship with the Saviour who gave His life for us, and rose again that we could have real life with Him.
God bless you,
