What is Showcase, but a time to appreciate, to wonder, and to stand with mouths gaping in awe, appreciating the culmination of nine months of hard work. Showcase 2017 was a night to discover the creative talents and unique vision of HSC Design and Technology, Music, and Visual Arts students. This night celebrated the outstanding achievements of some of Regent’s Park’s most gifted and talented students’ whose work, across a diverse range of media was sure to impress audiences.
HSC Design and Technology, (lead by Mr Pierre Engelbrecht), places a unique focus on creativity, innovation and the successful implementation of innovative ideas. This was well evidenced in the creation of works ranging from cleverly constructed and innovative tables, to detailed lesson plans designed improve education. The standard of the works, and the state-of-the-art designs seen on the night, were a testament to the conceptual development, hard work, and technical skills of our students.
As for the HSC Music performances (lead by Mr Tim Chavura), what can I say… they took our breath away; transported us to a different time, a different place, a state of being. The scope of these pieces, and the talent exhibited in the students’ performances was astounding. Though important to acknowledge is the process of the musician, to produce pieces that were evidence of what I can only imagine were hours, weeks, and months of intensive practice. Well done year 12 Music, you were an inspiration, and incredibly courageous.
Last but certainly not least, Year 12 Visual Arts students’ (lead by Miss Analise Hughes), exhibited works that revealed their interpretations of the world in which we live, our wants, our desires, our downfalls, and finally our impact on each other and the environment. Each work presented a unique style and flair, reflective of the interests and talents of the students’ (or should I say the Artists’!) in a range of art forms including: Sculpture, Film, Photography, Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media. Audiences were moved, impressed, inspired, and frankly blown away.
Year 12 you set the standard high, and brought glory to yourselves, parents and guardians, teachers, school, and most importantly God. Congratulations!
