During Term 2 all the students in our Primary School have been participating in Public Speaking. They each prepared a speech in the class to present. In Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 they prepared a factual speech about an animal of their choice. In Year 3, Year 4, year 5 and Year 6 they prepared a persuasive speech, using their own point of view about a topic. There was lots of learning about how to present a good speech.
Every child presented their speech to the class and the winners went into the Stage competition. The winners of the Stage competition then presented in the final during our primary assembly. There were lots of nerves but they did a phenomenal job presenting their speeches to all the students, teachers and parents.
Zaphira and Ariana, in Kindergarten, both spoke about their pets.
Mimi, in Year 1, spoke about Frogs.
Iven, in Year 2, spoke about Peacocks.
Esther and Vangana, in Stage 2, both presented about ‘Why our school needs to have rules’.
Janelle, in Year 5, spoke about ‘Why we need to sell Sushi in our school canteen’.
Juliana, in Year 6, spoke about ‘Why we need to use public transport’.
They certainly made it a hard decision for our judges to select the winners. They had the audience laughing, gasping, cheering and pondering. Thank you to our judges Mr Barnard, Mrs Simion and Miss Bailey.
Well done to all our students and finalist. Especially our winners Mimi and Janelle! We are looking forward to next year to see what amazing speeches you will do.
