Last term we welcomed Australian Diamond and NSW Swifts mid-courter Paige Hadley to RPCS. Paige’s visit was part of the Cumberland Council RUOK Day VIP Program. Paige spent a double period with Year 9 talking to them about the highs and lows of professional sport, and the different coping strategies that she has used throughout her life and career to maintain her wellbeing.
She was then joined by two other Netball NSW coaches and ran a netball workshop for our Year 9 PE classes during their lesson. The students enjoyed a range of modified games and activities to help them develop their skills for participating in invasion games. We feel truly blessed to have had Paige to come and spend time with our students just four days before the Suncorp Super Netball Grand final which was played on Sunday in Brisbane. Congratulations to the NSW Swifts on their victory – I’m sure it was the tips and cheers from our RPCS students that made all the difference. We would also like to thank Cumberland Council for inviting us to be a part of this fantastic initiative. We look forward to more opportunities to work together to provide meaningful learning experiences for our young people.
