On Thursday 14 February, Year 11 and 12 Drama students, accompanied by Mrs Wilson and Mr Warren, had the opportunity to visit The Seymour Centre, to see OnStage: the Drama Group and individual Performances, Set Costume and Publicity Designs chosen by NESA to showcase outstanding work from the 2018 HSC.
We were inspired by the creativity and skill of the performances, and encouraged to plan for our own HSC by the thought that RPCS student Scarlett Grayche was also nominated for this program in 2017! Seeing OnStage when we were younger, we were a little bit intimidated, but we know so much more now about how they did it – we are excited about what we can do and the message we can give to our audiences.
We saw a huge range of performance styles – transformation, physical theatre, Shakespeare, and clowning, just to name a few. There has been lots of reflection, analysis and focus on developing our skills in response to the day. Some of the performances we liked more than others, and it’s even interesting to talk about what could have worked better for those. Most of them were amazing and made us want to be OnStage ourselves.
A special thanks to Mr Ellis and Mr Morrow for driving us in the school bus so that we could be there for at least part of the swimming carnival!
