During the month of August the Biblical Studies department hosted four special guests at our chapel services. Stephen Chavura, Patricia Weerakoon, Mark Powell, and Andrew Scipione shared their wisdom at our Junior and Senior chapels.
They spoke on what it means to be a Christian in the context of Australia’s often volatile secular climate. Each speaker encouraged the students to take heart as they live their lives openly with Christian integrity and decency.
Over the month students engaged in an intellectually stimulating question and answer session with each speaker discussing a wide range of topics. From education, policing, the LGBTQI movement, to the interaction between religion and science the students grilled our special guests to get to the bottom of these important issues.
Coinciding with this was the five week in-depth study of the book of Joshua facilitated in the students’ Biblical Studies classes. Students learnt how to link the message of one of our guest speakers to the important message of the book of Joshua: Be strong and courageous, be obedient.
We wish our secondary students all the best as they live for Christ with optimism and courage!
Special thanks to the Biblical Studies department for their effort to make this program a great success.
