On Monday, 9th April, Stage Two students went on an excursion to Space! Well…almost!
We have been learning all about Space in our science unit: The Sun, Moon, stars, Earth, Solar System, Planets, and the Milky Way Galaxy. It was amazing to study God’s perfect design of the Universe. Here is a fun fact about God’s marvelous creation: Did you know that the Earth is the 3rd planet from the Sun in our Solar System? The Earth is a very special planet because of its perfect distance from the Sun and its layers of atmosphere that sustain an ideal temperature for all living things. If the Earth was any further from the Sun, our water would freeze and if it was any closer, our water would boil away.
At the end of our science unit we got to explore our Galaxy first-hand, inside an inflatable planetarium! The planetarium dome was like an IMAX theatre and we were immersed in a full 360° experience. Mr. Gary Starr, the expert and presenter, took us on a journey to Space and gave us a tour of each planet. We learned lots of astonishing facts like ‘we are in one of 2 trillion galaxies in our universe!’ We also got to stargaze and explore different constellations. At the end, we enjoyed a fun movie that explained how Seasons are caused by the Earth’s orbit around the Sun! All in all, it was an awe-inspiring and thrilling learning experience! We give it 10 out of 10 stars!
