“Books let you fight dragons, meet the love of your life, travel to faraway lands and laugh alongside friends, all within their pages. They’re an escape that brings you home” -@betterbybooks
So with this year’s theme “Escape to Everywhere”, students are encouraged to read books which help them to ‘escape’.
Book Week provides an opportunity to challenge our students with a reading program. The program started in the first week of term 3 and concludes in week 8. This year we plan to celebrate the end of book week with an “Edible Library Book Fair” on Friday, 15th September @ lunch time.
The students have been given fourteen destinations to escape to and which books to read to reach the destinations:
Adventure worlds – Adventure/action books
ANZ Stadium – Sports books
Classic places – Classic books
Disneyland – Books with Disney Character
Dreamworld – Fantasy stories
Luna Park – Fun/humour stories
Movie World – Books/Stories have been made into movies
Mystery Islands – Crime/Mystery stories
Mythical Places – Myths/Legend stories
Promised Land – Christian stories
Romantic Islands – Love/Romance stories
Sea World – Animal/Sea/Ocean stories
War-torn Areas – Stories set during war times
Wonderland – Speculative/Future/Science fiction
Students who finish reading a book/story will receive a “First Class Airline” ticket. They are to collect the tickets according to the books they read and the destinations to choose to escape to.The tickets will be used as coupons for the “Edible Library Fair”, where they can “buy” the food which represents the places they have been.
We want to encourage all our students to “Escape to Everywhere”, to read as many books as they want and join us to celebrate their adventures.
