On Wednesday the 15 March, we took an Open Boys and Open Girls Volleyball team out to South Windsor to compete in the CSSA State Volleyball Championship.
Leading us in prayer, Sereana (Captain) dedicated the day to honouring the Lord and to enjoying this time with our Christian community.
Our students represented the school brilliantly, setting a very competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere which was greatly appreciated by all schools involved.
Our Open Girls Volleyball team displayed a never-failing team spirit and great sportsmanship as they took the spotlight from their very first game. The girls won game after game (2-0) against Illawarra, St George, William Carey, Inaburra Blue and Inaburra Yellow. This took them straight to the grand final against Macarthur Adventist College. From the first set the excitement and intensity reached boiling point as the ball went back and forth like a ping pong match. Regardless the girls remained focused and played fearlessly. In a close and tough match, the girls lost 16-20 in their first set and 18-21 in their second set to an incredible team. In the end, the friendship that the girls developed with Macarthur was the best win of their day. The love for Jesus that the girls shared was shown in a magnificent way by finishing their game and day in pray together. Congratulations girls on your outstanding effort!
Our Open boys started the day strongly, defeating Inaburra 2-0 in their first game and drawing their second game against Charlton Christian College 1-1. They then came up against one of the top teams in the competition, Wycliffe Christian School, who defeated us 2-0 in a competitive game. The Open Boys then finished the day with a 2-0 win against Penrith Christian School and a 1-1 draw to William Carey Christian School. The boys tied for second place overall in their pool and unfortunately missing out on a chance to compete in the Grand Final. Well done boys on your excellent team work and enthusiasm on the day!
A special mention to Minseong (Captain), Ethan and Nico who were all selected to play for the CSSA NSW second team at the upcoming National Christian School Games in May.
