What an incredible night! For the first time ever we had an inflatable gladiator colosseum where the girls got to compete against each other in a tournament to find out which grade had what it takes to win! This was followed by some free time where they got to hang out, enjoying activities including basketball, a karaoke room and a pamper room where they could get their nails done or make their own choker necklaces. After dinner all the girls moved into the hive where we went into a time of worship, we had “The Lion Daughters” from inspire youth leading us in a time of worship, and then Katy Mendis from Central Youth, our speaker for the night, who was actually a student at RPCS, spoke on the theme “Radiate” from the passage James 3:17-18, which is the theme for our school in 2017. She left us to imagine what a school full of girls who forgive one another and support one another would look like, a school where teachers and students have each other’s backs and can truly say that they are peace-makers. This year we really wanted to focus and look at why we have Beloved and what it means to our school. Having Katy speak as someone who has walked these halls and been to her own fair share of Beloved nights was really special! The night ended with a Beloved tradition where the teachers stood over us girls and prayed for us, it was a very bittersweet feeling getting to stand there as year 12 students, for the last time with all the girls of RPCS but it was such a privilege to see a glimpse of the potential and calling God has for the girls of this school!
