On Monday 4 March Kindergarten students embarked on their first school adventure beyond the borders of our school. We travelled to Auburn Botanic Gardens. While it was only a short distance away it was very exciting for all with their first trip on the school bus.
Recently, Kindergarten began a unit about gardens and living things. The trip to the Gardens was to help students understand the scope of living things that exist as well as to provide them with context for when we begin designing and planting a garden of our own. Students had the opportunity to smell scented plants, see ducks, geese, lizards and peacocks and enjoy a wander through the Australian rainforest area.
This opportunity provided our students with knowledge about living things, which is a part of our Science syllabus. It also giving them the chance to get to know their local area which is a part of our Geography syllabus outcomes.
We will be continuing to learn about living things, including the needs of animals, for the rest of the term.
