On Monday 11 March, the Primary Prefects and Captains (Caitlyn, Janelle, Minh-Nghi, Sake, Samuel and Zachary) journeyed to the International Convention Centre to be a part of the National Young Leaders Day. This event is all about encouraging and equipping young leaders to step out of their shell and fulfil their role of being a leader. The speakers at the convention were Tim Diamond (Founder of the Cotton On Foundation), Tasmin Janu (Award-winning author), Kate Campbell (Olympic gold medalist in swimming) and Holy Ferling (an Australian cricketer). They each spoke about a variety of topics, but one thing that stood out to us was about the obstacles they faced, how they overcame them and how leaders can use their experiences to enhance their leadership skills. Our favourite speaker was Kate Campbell. She told us about how she had gone through multiple setbacks, but how she showed perseverance and overcame them. In all, this convention was very enjoyable and taught us a lot about what we could do to improve as leaders. We recommend this event for future leaders because it was inspirational and enjoyable.
